“Harlow Gallery Exhibition Schedule Announced for 2009”
The Kennebec Valley Art Association is proud to announce the 2009 exhibition schedule for the Harlow Gallery. Exhibitions are chosen from among proposals submitted by members of the Kennebec Valley Art Association as well as from Maine artists not affiliated with the organization. A volunteer committee reviews the proposals to arrive at the final schedule. The Harlow Gallery is owned and operated by the Kennebec Valley Art Association, a non-profit membership based art association promoting the arts in central Maine for half a century.

Curated by Hannah Harding-Cumler of Hallowell, Value: Portrayed in Black and White will showcase artwork of various media by art students at the University of Maine at Augusta.
Young at Art: the Teachers

This years Young at Art exhibition series will showcase work by area art teachers for the first time.

Sixth annual exhibit of artwork by elementary and middle school children from schools throughout the greater Augusta area. Curated by Sandra Leinonen Dunn of Chelsea. Participating schools have included Hall-Dale, Lincoln, Farrington, Hussey, Gilbert, Hodgkins, Gardiner, Laura Richards, Chelsea, Pittston, Windsor and more. Families with children are especially invited to attend! Children’s art workshops will be offered at the Harlow Gallery on weekends all this month. This year’s exhibition and workshop series is being sponsored by a generous grant from the Maine Community Foundation.

Our 14th annual Juried Show draws artists from throughout central & coastal Maine. Over $1,000 in cash prizes will be awarded at 6pm during the opening celebration on May 8th. Jurors are Carlton Plummer, A.W.S of Boothbay plus one other TBA.

Ray Skolfield 100th Birthday Retrospective

Ray Skolfield was born in 1909 and work is included in many museums nationwide. He was a WPA artist during the 1930s. He died in Hallowell, his adopted hometown, in 1996. This exhibition will be on view for three days only, don’t miss it!

A juried show open to all Maine artists, Care for Your Child will present a positive-reinforcing image of parenting. This is a juried show and $3,750 in cash prizes will be awarded at the opening.
