3-Day Watercolor Workshop with Carlton Plummer, A.W.S. Coming to the Harlow in June


Award winning watercolorist Carlton Plummer, A.W.S., will be conducting a 3-day multi-watermedia painting workshop, featuring both studio and pleine air painting opportunities. The workshop will take place at the Harlow Gallery on June 25, 26 and 27, 2010, beginning each day at 8:45 and ending at 4:15.  This one-time-only opportunity is limited to 15 students; early registration is strongly advised!  Call the Harlow Gallery to register (207) 622-3813. Carlton’s instruction will focus on drama in painting, design & color, value & composition, and working with large shapes (starting abstractly and working towards realism). Students will enjoy painting demonstrations and a critique each day as well as individual instruction. A materials list will be sent on receipt of deposit of $100.


Carlton Plummer, professor emeritus of U Mass at Lowell, is an experienced and sought after teacher of art. Carlton was born in Brunswick, Maine and spent his formative years growing up on a farm outside of Augusta.  The Harlow Gallery hosted Carlton’s very first one-man show in the 1960s, and this June the Harlow will be hosting a retrospective exhibition of Carlton Plummer’s work looking back at his accomplished 50 year art career.  The master artist is well known on the American art scene for his vibrant watercolors of the Maine coast.  Carlton and his wife, artist Joan Plummer, live and work in East Boothbay and in Tequesta, Florida.
