Join the KVAA!

Membership benefits you as an artist or arts lover, by connecting you with a vibrant arts community.

Kennebec Valley Art Association (KVAA) is a membership based 501(c)3 nonprofit organization founded in 1959. We own and operate the Harlow Gallery on the banks of the Kennebec River in downtown historic Hallowell, Maine.  The KVAA supports the artistic development of our member artists, both amateur and professional, by providing opportunities for exhibition and other professional development at the Harlow Gallery. These include workshops, lectures, demonstrations and other special events. Our policy is to make our space available to a broad range of artists’ groups for meetings and events that are important to artistic growth and for the exchange of ideas.

Because we believe the arts are integral to a well-rounded and vibrant community, and can be a key factor in personal growth and self- improvement, we strive to involve the greater community in the arts and to invite them into the Harlow Gallery at every opportunity.

  1. Good afternoon folks at The Harlow Gallery,

My name is Aaron McClure and I am a local artist. I work primarily with white/black charcoal on black paper. I’ve been commissioned to do many portraits, homesteads, sports memorabilia items… etc. Up until 2 months ago I was employed for 12 years in the banking and finance industry. 12 years was more than enough. I decided to pursue my passion for working with children and started a career in elementary education. I am currently a 5th grade teacher at Readfield Elementary.

My art was also a huge reason for my departure from banking. I have been able to build up a nice portfolio of work and quite a back log of requests. However, I felt that I could do more with my skills that I picked up in banking, management, and sales to take it a bit further. That is why I created ~ The Gallery ~ In Home Art Exhibit Parties.

I received a message from a friend of mine, Julie Barter, who attended my opening event on April 20th. She stated that she had met with some folks from The Harlow Gallery and that the comments she received were positive. I would love to have an opportunity to chat with you in regards to ~ The Gallery ~ and see if some of your artists might be interested in presenting some of their work at future events.

Please take a moment to review my website: http://www.thegalleryparty.com for detailed information. Also, all I have for my personal work right now is an ETSY site. Please take a peek at that as well: http://www.aaronmcclure.etsy.com.

Thanks so much for your time

    Aaron

  2. Hi Aaron, Sorry for the late reply; this site had a spam problem until recently. Come in and visit the gallery sometime and we can talk about your idea. We are open noon-6pm Wed-Sat.
