How to Enter

Our juror will do a first review based on the digital submissions. Harlow staff will contact artists whose work they wish to consider for the final review via email. The next step is for you to bring the work to the Harlow so our juror can view it in person. See important dates for dates and times when you will need to deliver your work to the Harlow at 100 Water Street in Hallowell.

Submission of my entry fee constitutes my understanding and agreement to the juried show guidelines and to the following conditions.

√ All work submitted is my own original art.

√ My entry fee is non-refundable.

√ If my work sells the Harlow takes a commission of 35% for members, 50% for non-members and have priced my work accordingly.

√ I grant the Harlow permission to use images of my artwork and/or my name for promoting this exhibition and/or the Harlow Art Center, in print, broadcast and online media and marketing materials.

√ I understand that insurance coverage of artwork in the care of the Harlow may be limited and I agree not to hold the Harlow Art Center, the Kennebec Valley Art Association or its officers or employees liable for any loss or damage.

Step 2 — attach .jpg images (electronic picture files) of your art to your email after reading instructions below and  send your complete submission to:

Submit one JPEG image per work of art you are submitting for consideration by the juror. Each artist may submit up to three works of art. Do not include additional detail shots or shots from various angles, even in the case of sculpture. Simply submit your best shot.

Do not paste these into the body of your email. They must be attachments.

Images should be around 1 megabyte in size; recommended pixel around 900 width or height, but not to exceed 1,800 in either dimension. Do not send thumbnails.

Disclaimer — the Harlow is not responsible for technical or computer failures, including problems accessing the Internet, any other computer error or malfunction, or for late, lost, illegible or misdirected entries.  Make sure you send your entry to the correct email account according to the directions above. You will receive an automatic reply confirming your entry.  


Step 3 — entry fee, then you are done!

We must receive your entry fee on or before the deadline or your entry will not be considered. The entry fee is $25 for current members of the Harlow, or $30 for non-members*. The fee is the same whether you are submitting just one work or the limit of 3 per artist.

We waive the fee for full-time students. Just let us know what school you attend (high school or college) and what degree program you are enrolled in if you are attending college.

There are three ways to pay:

1. Pay now using Paypal. Select” Member $25″ or “Non Member $30” in the drop down menu and click on the “Buy Now” button:

*Join the Harlow (sliding scale starts at $40 a year) and be eligible for the lower fee and you enjoy a lower commission rate if your work sells (35% for members, 50% for nonmembers) and many other opportunities and benefits. Entry fees are not refundable and decisions of the jurors are final.
