Bob Demers – there at the beginning

This is one of a series of interviews with members of the Kennebec Valley Art Association (KVAA), and artists and community members who have been influential in shaping the Harlow Gallery and the KVAA. Videos by Art Mayers were filmed in 2013, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Harlow Gallery in 1963.

Robert Demers was a founding member of the Kennebec Valley Art Association, and the organization’s first President in 1959.

  1. It’s great to see Bob Demers again reminiscing about the early days of the Kennebec Valley Art Association. I was in my early teens when I was allowed to exhibit with the group at the Augusta House. My Dad , Bert Hoyle, was the first Vice President of the organization, and I was the youngest charter member. Those were good and heady days…….Gary Hoyle

  2. Thanks for getting in touch! Are you still in Maine? Would love to have you share your memories in a similar interview if you would be interested. Do you have any pictures or other materials from those days? Best, Deb Fahy
