Call for Art: Holiday Members’ Show & Sale


ON VIEW: DECEMBER 6, 2019 – JANUARY 14, 2020

Harlow artist members are invited to submit one piece of art for the Annual Holiday Members’ Art Show and Sale which will be on view December 6, 2019 – January 14, 2020 at 100 Water Street. Patrons can buy work off the wall and take it home the same day. If your work is sold we’ll call you and you can bring in new work to replace the one that sold. All media welcome including but not limited to: painting, drawing, printmaking, encaustic, fiber, ceramics, glass, wood, metal, and other mixed media. One work of art per member.

2 dimensional, wall hung work should not exceed 18″x 24″ including the frame. 3 dimensional should not exceed 15x15x15″ and should be able to fit on a standard pedestal. Furniture or oversized work will not be accepted.

During members’ shows, current members may submit up to 2 pieces of unframed, original 2 dimensional work (no reproductions including giclee prints). Work should be shrink wrapped or bagged, and no larger than 18×24. Pieces should be labeled on the back with the following information: artist’s name, title, media and price (remember to factor in the Harlow Gallery 35% members’ commission). 

Friday, November 29 or Saturday, November 30, 12-6pm: Deliver artwork to The Harlow at 100 Water Street, Hallowell
Friday, December 6, 5-7pm: Opening reception (potluck! please bring a dish or beverage to share), in tandem with opening reception for Show of Hands.
December 6, 2019 – January 14, 2020: Exhibition on view

Are you a current artist member planning to participate? We need images of your work to promote the show. Please email a high quality image of your work to Allison McKeen at (Please include name, title, and media.) Images due November 30 for consideration for the exhibition postcard.

The Harlow, located in downtown historic Hallowell is home to the Kennebec Valley Art Association, a membership based 501(c)3 nonprofit dedicated to connecting and celebrating art, artists and community in central Maine since 1963.
