Vaughan Vignettes – call for KVAA member artists

Call for Artists

Open to members of the Kennebec Valley Art Association only*

Artists may join anytime to be eligible, including the day they deliver work for this show.

We are celebrating our 50th anniversary year with a special “Year of Community” exhibition series, featuring community  partnerships and many more opportunities for artists to show work over the course of the year than we usually offer.  We are delighted to announce that our Summer Member’s Show is being presented in partnership with the Vaughan Homestead Foundation.

The Vaughan Homestead in Hallowell

Vaughan Vignettes is sponsored by Mattson Development

Vaughan Vignettes, from July 5-27, 2013 is an art exhibition celebrating the legacy of the Vaughan family in Hallowell.  Submitted art work must depict or be inspired in some way by the history and legacy of the Vaughan family to be included in this exhibition. Fine art in any media welcome.  This will not be an art show and sale — work will remain on view for the duration of the exhibition. Each member can submit up to TWO works, we’ll hang them all assuming we have the space!

The two organizations are offering a series of art workshops to give KVAA members opportunities to visit and create art on the grounds of Vaughan Homestead and in the Vaughan Homestead from February to June.

Vaughan House & gardens in the 1930s

Each member may submit TWO works of art, and all work will be included in the show assuming all the following apply:

1. The work fits the theme.

2. The work adheres to the usual requirements for members shows  - EXCEPT - we are waiving the size limitation for this show AND you may show older work if you have something perfect for the theme.

3.  We have the physical space to exhibit everything submitted. If space is an issue, very large works may be the first cut.
