Current members of the Harlow Gallery / Kennebec Valley Art Association only!
Harlow Gallery artist members are invited to submit one piece of art for the annual Members’ Show and Sale. All media welcome, including but not limited to painting, drawing, printmaking, fiberarts, photography, sculpture and fine craft. One work of art per member. We ask that artists please fill out the new online entry form BEFORE drop off day.

Member’s shows are very popular – we currently receive about 100 works, which was quite a challenging number to hang. So even though we love large format art, members’ shows just aren’t the place for it — we have instituted a size limitation as follows (only for 2 dimensional work – sculpture just needs to fit through the door): No wall hung work may exceed 18″x24″ including the frame (or a total of 432 square inches for non- standard support sizes). Large work will be accepted, but if there is a space problem oversize work will be the first to be cut. In other words, if you choose to bring in over-sized work we cannot guarantee you a spot in the show.

Please read our members’ show guidelines before submitting your work. The exhibition committee reserves the right to reject work that does not meet the guidelines. (Members’ Show and Sale Guidelines)

IMPORTANT DATES:
Drop off work (one per artist, any media) on: Friday, June 23, 12-6pm or Saturday, June 24, 12-6pm. Volunteers needed to help both dates! Please contact Cassie Bouton.
Potluck opening on Friday, June 30, 5-7pm. please bring a dish or beverage to share

OPTIONAL – bring in original unframed work for the bins: During members’ shows, current members may submit up to 2 pieces of original 2 dimensional work (no reproductions including giclee prints) . Work should be shrink wrapped or bagged, and no larger than 18 x 24. Pieces should be labeled on the back with the following information: artist’s name, title, media and price (remember to factor in the Harlow Gallery 35% members’ commission). Unsold work must be picked up at the same time as the work in the show.

Are you an artist member planning to participate? We need images of your work to promote the show. Please send your jpeg file(s) no smaller than 1MB to allison@harlowgallery.org.

Exhibitions at the Harlow Gallery are underwritten by our Patron of the Arts sponsor Camden National Bank, and by our season sponsors Capitol Dental Care, Eaton Peabody Attorneys at Law, Kennebec Savings Bank, Scrummy Afters Candy ShoppeSlates Restaurant and the City of Hallowell.

Exhibitions at the Harlow are always free and open to the public. Gallery hours are Wednesday-Saturday 12-6 pm. The Harlow Gallery is a membership based 501(c)3 nonprofit dedicated to connecting and celebrating art, artists and community in downtown historic Hallowell since 1963.

  • When does the show come down? I can’t seem to find the dates for pick-up and want to put them on my calendar. Thanks!

    • It ends on July 22nd. The pickup times are to be determined but will most likely be the Sunday following closing. Please stay tuned though as this is subject to change.
