FOUR SEASONS 2015/2016: Twelve New England Photographs by Mark Barnette

Continuing now through August 10 at Bonobo, Portland.

Portland photographer Mark Barnette is a native of New England (born 1956, raised Portsmouth, NH), and was brought up to revere the pre-revisionist history that formed Americans’ notions of the region’s character and how it ought to look.

FOUR SEASONS 2015/2016, on exhibit now through August 14 at bonobo wood-fired pizza, looks back on a year of making images throughout New England in which the photographer sought to create authentic regional art that acknowledges, subverts, and sometimes celebrates the visual tropes he grew up with.
