We have some very exciting news to share and wanted you, as a member and supporter of the Harlow Gallery/KVAA, to be among the first to hear. The Kennebec Valley Art Association is expanding! We just signed a lease for 100 Water Street, which is the large dark-red building at the intersection of Water, Winthrop and Front Streets. The board and staff are very enthusiastic about the potential the new space provides for expanded programming and increased visibility.

Congratulations to Maggie Warren, whose name was drawn as the winner of our art raffle fundraiser! Maggie won a custom painting by Hallowell artist Chris Cart; it will be her choice of a portrait of one or two people, or a painting of a home or business. The raffle drawing took place during Hallowell’s Woodstock Festival on Sunday, August 13th, 2017. Raffle proceeds pay the artist for his work, and support art programs at the Harlow Gallery, owned and operated by the Kennebec Valley Art Association, a membership-based 501(c)3 nonprofit since 1963.

The Harlow Gallery announces 13 artist/farm partnerships for Community Supporting Arts (CSA II) project taking place across Maine in 2017. Participating artists will visit their partner farms regularly beginning in January, at the very start of the 2017 growing season, creating art inspired by their farmer’s lives, work, and landscape. The resulting body of artwork will be exhibited at three venues in the fall of 2017, at the Harlow Gallery in Hallowell, at Maine Farmland Trust’s gallery in Belfast and at Engine in Biddeford.
