Color Theory with Jim Flahaven

About the workshop:
This workshop will focus on the physical interaction of colors. It is appropriate for anyone who uses color in their practice: painters, interior designers, fiber artists, etc. The approach will be hands-on and students will paint, cut and paste using acrylics. Together, the group will cycle through a number of different exercises and discuss numerous color theory concepts. Each student should leave the workshop with more mastery and understanding of color.

About the instructor:
Jim Flahaven is an artist and educator living in Maine. He has exhibited his work in Canada and throughout the United States. He attended the University of North Texas where he received his BFA in Drawing and Painting in 1986 and he received his MFA from Ohio State in 1988.  He has taught at numerous colleges and universities including Clarion University, the University of New England, and the Maine College of Art. He currently teaches painting, drawing and color theory at the University of Southern Maine. He has written for ArtPapers, and is the creator of, an online resource for drawing instructors and drawing enthusiasts.

Open to ages 16 and up
No previous experience necessary.
