Community Invited to Create Artist Trading Cards at the Harlow Gallery

Do you have cabin fever?
We have the remedy for you and your family!

Come to the Harlow Gallery on Saturday, March 19 from 1-3 pm and create some Artist Trading Cards! All ages are welcome.

The idea is to make one to keep and one to trade. Everyone will end up with at least one of their own cards and take home a card by another artist. Artist Trading Cards were first created by the Swiss artist M. Vanci Stirneman in 1997 as… part of an exhibit, and since then the idea has spread worldwide. These tiny art treasures are usually traded rather than sold. Participants will create their own miniature works of art; the cards are 2.5 x 3.5 inches and can be created using pencil, crayon, markers or paint. Artists incorporate collage, found objects, and paper cuts and more, so feel free to bring items from home to incorporate into your trading cards. We’ll have basic art materials available, and instructors will be on hand to aide you in expressing your ideas. This event takes place during the Young at Art Exhibition of artwork by students in grades K-8 from schools in the greater Augusta region, so children are especially welcome (attended by a parent or caregiver please). It will be an enjoyable experience for all!

Made possible in part by our season sponsor Kennebec Savings Bank.
