Day of the Dead at the Harlow

Revisit the true meaning of Halloween and the Festival of the Dead: join Hallowell artist Malley Weber in a weekend celebration and memorial for our recently departed and long past ancestors.

Friday evening, October 28 from 5-7pm
OPEN POETRY READING –bring your old favorites, originals, and most haunting, beloved poems or songs relating to ghosts, death, and the after-life.

Saturday, October 29,  1-4 pm
Come honor your loved ones by dedicating and decorating tissue flower arrangements to be displayed in the evening performance. Sugar cookie skulls can be decorated and eaten! Come in costume or as you are.

Saturday, October 29,  6-7pm (note time change!)
DAY OF THE DEAD PERFORMANCE  written and performed by Malley Weber. This performance highlights the story of a young woman mourning the loss of her love. The poignant story is told through poetry, song, and projected images. Special guest Alfred Lund will provide percussion.  This performance deals with difficult subject matter relating to grief and loss and is not recommended for young children.

Donations will be accepted and proceeds will benefit the Augusta and Waterville Hospice programs for grieving families and public programs at the Harlow Gallery.
