The Portland-based Quimby Family Foundation recently awarded a grant of $10,000 to the Kennebec Valley Art Association for operational support of the Harlow Gallery in Hallowell.
The Kennebec Valley Art Association is a membership-based non-profit art organization, whose mission is to ‘connect and celebrate art, artists and community. The art association has owned and operated the Harlow Gallery at 160 Water Street in downtown Hallowell since 1963. The grant funds are supporting the organization’s newly full-time executive director position through 2015, and are being used to help build organizational capacity, to facilitate strategic and succession planning, and to develop key community partnerships.
The Quimby Family Foundation was formed in 2004 by Roxanne Quimby – an entrepreneur, environmentalist, and philanthropist with the vision to advance wilderness values and to increase access to the arts throughout Maine. Visit them online at quimbyfamilyfoundation.org
