Irish Music Concert on St. Patrick’s Day 2013

Join on St. Patrick’s Day, Sunday, March 17th for music and more! The public is invited to enjoy variety of music offerings between 3-6 pm – come for an hour or spend the afternoon!

From 3-4 pm local musicians, including Adam Soosman & William Fahy, will perform traditional Irish music to celebrate the holiday, including some pieces from other European and American cultures and traditions.

From 4-5pm music by the I-Rish for a Cure Band®, followed by a reception with background music from 5-6pm. Meet Team Hallowell, learn about the Dempsey Challenge, and get your Official I-Rish for a Cure® bracelet!

Adam Soosman has been performing since 1989 and teaching music in Maine since 1996. He teaches private music instructor for the Musician’s 1st Choice School of Music & Performance in Augusta, specializing in Woodwind & Brass instruments and Voice. Soosman can be heard on the new Sam Shain and the Scolded Dogs album playing various saxophones – the album was recorded in Hallowell, at Bob Caldwell’s studio. Soosman plays regularly with the popular function band, “JONES’N”, which celebrated its tenth anniversary last year. He also performs with the Maine band “The Wedding Crashers” and the dynamic duo “A n’ D”. Soosman is currently teaching a course in Irish Tin Whistle through Gardiner Adult Education and is offering a Community Brass & Woodwind Band course there beginning in April.

 William Fahy is a student at Hall-Dale Middle School. He has been studying the Irish tin whistle and flute with Soosman for the past two years.

Team Hallowell will be participating in The Dempsey Challenge for the second year this October. The Dempsey Challenge is a run, walk and cycle marathon fundraiser for The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing in Lewiston, Maine. One-hundred percent of funds raised by Dempsey Challenge participants directly benefits the Dempsey Center, supporting their mission to provide free support, education and integrative medicine services to anyone impacted by cancer.
