Harlow Gallery presents Pysanka Ukranian Egg Decorating, a workshop lead by Lesia Sochor on Sunday, April 2nd, from 2-4pm. Tuition is $15 for KVAA/Harlow Gallery members or $20 for non-members. This workshop is open to anyone ages 8 and up, children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
Join Lesia in learning about this ancient spring ritual which goes back 5000 years to pre-Christian times. “This exquisite art form has been taught to me by my Ukrainian mother”, Lesia explains. Using a wax resist process, dyes, beeswax and a tool called a ‘Kistka’ create a beautiful multi-colored egg. In a 2 hr class, participants will learn the basics, and come away with a fully decorated egg. Traditional designs will be taught, and experimentation encouraged.
