State Parks of Maine to be Featured at the Harlow Gallery’s October Exhibit

Join us at the opening on Friday, October 5th, 5 to 8 pm.

The Kennebec Valley Art Association is proud to sponsor the first annual Art of Maine State Parks and Baxter Park competition and exhibit, at the Harlow Gallery, 160 Water Street, Hallowell, for the month of October. The art on display will capture the essence of the landscape, wildlife and/or history represented within the state parks and historic sites governed by the Maine Bureau of Parks and Lands, as well as within Baxter State Park.

Jurors for this exhibit are Tom Higgins, an accomplished landscape artist and professor of art at the University of Maine in Farmington, and Portland gallery owner Daniel Kany. The Daniel Kany Gallery features contemporary glass, paintings and sculpture.

This juried show is modeled after the well-known national art competition, Arts for the Parks, which honored our national parks for 20 years. Following the example of the national competition, which drew entries from the best landscape painters in the world, the Art of Maine State Parks and Baxter Park will draw from the works of Maine’s best painters.
