Interested in a unique and memorable experience for a special mom this mother’s day? Does she love to sing? Bring her to the Harlow Gallery and participate in a VORTEX led by ImproVox!
On Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 8th from 1-4 pm, the public is invited to participate in a singing VORTEX at the Harlow Gallery in downtown Hallowell. No vocal experience necessary, all are welcome. ImproVox explores vocal sound and harmony like a dancer explores space and rhythm, like a painter explores color and form, like a songbird explores the sunrise — with joyful anticipation of something WONDERFUL on the horizon. Participants will sing surrounded by art at the Harlow Gallery. A $27 participation fee is suggested.
So what IS a VORTEX?!?! Don’t let the name fool you into thinking it’s something from outer space! VORTEX is what ImproVox calls a circle of friends singing together. They’ll lead the group gently through vocal warm-ups and into a place where playing together with voices feels comfortable for all. No one is forced into soloing and everyone is allowed to fall – it’s all about SAFELY exploring our voices and the melodies inside us. An ImproVox vocal “VORTEX” is the ultimate instant choir. Workshops promote deep listening, imagination, initiation, and musical invention. Dynamic rhythms and interlocking melodies blend into holy harmonies and daring dissonances. Participants consistently report a jubilant response to making music in the moment.
