SUNDAY, MAY 6, 10AM-4PM
On Sunday, May 6 from 10am-4pm join Cynthia Ahlstrin, an award winning local artist who exhibits her work nationally for a workshop on hand designed paste paper and layered papermaking. The workshop will explore the exciting method of using pigment, paste and other media to create original hand designed decorative paper often used in book arts, collage and other arts. Participants will learn the techniques of mixing paint, making underlying marks and using the right tools to create professional quality paper with colorful designs. The class will then move on to learn the process of hand layering to create beautiful sheets of translucent layered paper. This method of paper making is a great way to incorporate all your small scraps of paper, cloth and thread into your piece.
Ages 12 and up are welcome, no previous experience is necessary. Paper, pigments, and paste are all provided. Participants should bring a hair dryer (to speed drying time) and any scraps of lightweight paper, thread or cloth for additional inclusions.
